USA Visit Visa
There are various types of USA visit visa for temporary visitors to travel to the U.S. if you are not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Here are the main categories:
Business/Tourist Visa – Visa Type: B
USA visit visas are non-immigrant visas for people who want to enter the United States temporarily. The B-1/B-2 visitor visa is for business (B-1), tourism (B-2), or both purposes (B-1/B-2). The B-1 visa is for travelers consulting with business associates, attending conventions, settling an estate, or negotiating contracts. The B-2 visa is for recreational travel, including tourism, visits with friends or relatives, medical treatment, and social activities. Often, the B-1 and B-2 visas are combined and issued as one visa: the B-1/B-2.
Work Visas
- H-1B (Specialty Occupation): An H-1B visa is for those performing services in a pre-arranged professional job. You must hold a bachelor’s or higher degree (or an equivalent) in the specific specialty.
- L-1 (Intra-Company Transferees): An L-1 visa is for employees of international companies transferring to a U.S. parent, branch, affiliate, or subsidiary. You must be at a managerial or executive level or have specialized knowledge.
- L-2 (Dependents): If you hold a valid L visa, your spouse and unmarried children under 21 may receive this derivative visa. Your spouse can seek employment authorization upon entry with an L-2 visa.
Student Visas – Visa Types: F, M
You must have a student visa to study in the United States. Your course of study and the type of school you attend determine whether you need an F visa or an M visa. The F visa is typically for academic studies, while the M visa is for vocational studies.
These visa categories cover most temporary visits to the U.S. for business, work, or study purposes. Ensure you meet the specific requirements for the visa type you are applying for.
