Canadian Experience Class (CEC): Your Path to Permanent Residency in Canada
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an excellent opportunity for overseas aspirants currently in Canada who wish to become permanent residents. This program is designed for individuals with Canadian work experience gained within the last three years.
Key Requirements for the Canadian Experience Class
- Work Experience: You must have at least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. This can be either full-time or an equal amount in part-time, with proper authorization documents. The work should be in one of the TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job categories.
- Education: You can claim points for your education, whether it is a Canadian certificate, diploma, or degree, or a foreign credential with a completed Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- Language Proficiency: You need to meet the minimum language ability requirements. For TEER 0 or TEER 1 jobs, a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 is required. For TEER 2 or TEER 3 jobs, a CLB of 5 is sufficient.
- Residency Intentions: You must plan to live and work outside the province of Quebec.
Benefits of the Canadian Experience Class
The CEC offers one of the fastest and simplest routes to permanent residency for many international graduates in Canada. After completing a course or study at a Canadian educational institution, international students can obtain a post-graduate work permit. With this permit, graduates become eligible to join the Express Entry pool under the CEC after gaining at least one year of work experience in a qualified, professional, or technical sector.
Additionally, there are various options to obtain permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class. You can also apply to provincial nominee programs if you have a job offer from a specific province.
